Small Space, Big Thinking!

We are living in the world of space crunch be it our apartment, or road all of them have been affected by it. This minimal space often makes us step back from fulfilling our wishes of having the best of furniture and decor, but it shouldn’t affect our big and imaginative thinking. Pocket sized, doll house apartments with boxy bedrooms, are notably bad for their lack of storage but that doesn’t mean that you can lose out on creativity and style.

small space 1

So how do we make the most of the space available to us? Mapping up and zoning, help you gather a clear image of how to strategically using the minimalist space. Once you have ‘mapped out’ everything, you have a clear picture, if there is a living room, you have a space designated for the sofa, for a compact or folding dining table,  a statement armchair.

small space 4

The space design shouldn’t looked cluttered, but going with using a pencil to draw your dream house plan would help you get a clear idea. Even though it’s a small space, there should be a defined use of all the space you have  in a smart manner.

fp.jpg

Once you have everything mapped and drawn out you can think of the potential possessions to buy or to keep. When there is minimal space you have to be tidy and the best thing you can do is to declutter every season and be ruthless about what you need and throw out what you don’t.

Using shelves to store your knick knacks, or a floating shelf above your bed with a colorful display of your tours can be used as memoir and adds as a statement feature to your bedroom. If not that color your ceiling a darker hue to create an illusion of height, for example, cream colored walls with a dark blue ceiling, if you want to experiment try creating a galactic effect for  a soothing finish.

small space 5.jpg

The best way to show off your books, instead of going the all traditional way of making a wooden bookcase, try something quirky yet stylish, a step ladder case, which can double up as a shelf too. Try to be daring and make a wall into a storage space, but it can be risky deal if not looked after properly.

small space 6.jpg

If the house comes with great windows don’t dull them out by adding dark inducing drapes, leaving them as they are adds a lot of light and depth to your apartment. The creation of illusion of space adds a great deal too, use mirrors to do it. A full length mirror or a medium sized mirror accessorized properly would lighten up your living room.

small space.jpg

The use of monochromatic colors, is an absolute cliche, these days interior decorators are experimenting with adding a wallpaper walled, or a wall with vertical stripes to add height or horizontal stripes to create depth.

Dining spaces should be compact and elegant, using folding or wall in tables, is a great way to make the use of your dining and/or living area, if you like glass, use an acrylic table, or else a table with glass top and wooden legs.

small space 7.jpg

The kitchen should always be sectioned, use of cabinet space, or else use glass containers to store away the elements in your cooking area, if you want adding a breakfast bar, to eliminate the dining area is also a good choice.

small space 2

So make the best and classy use of the space you have, don’t live in minimalism and mangolia.

Must visit beaches this Summer

Summer reminds me of ice pops, watermelon salads, and beaches. I mean who doesn’t love them, our summer vacations are incomplete without a trip to a beach, be it a road trip to Goa, or a flight to the scenic beaches of Greece.

I get you a check list of beaches you have to visit in your life!

Whitehaven Beach, Whitsundays

The pristine sand stretches over seven kilometers of Whitsunday Island, smack bang in the middle of the Whitsundays, with crystal-clear waters perfect for snorkeling. It’s the most photographed beach in Australia according to Tourism Whitsundays. The best view is atop Tongue Point, where at low tide you can witness a beautiful array of colors come to light.

whitehaven beach 2

Santorini, Greece

The most romantic beach island in the whole of Greece, not that Greece wasn’t romantic enough! This place is rich in culture and history, the colorful houses are just like the sprinkles on a pretty cupcake. It’s a volcanic island, bursting with traditional food produce like cherry tomatoes, white eggplants, fava, caper and “hloró tyrí”, a special kind of fresh goat cheese. How can a trip in Santorini be complete without a wine tasting at the many wineries specially produced from the grapes grown there.

Elephant Beach, Andaman and Nicobar Islands

A trip to Havelock Islands is an incomplete one without snorkeling at the Elephant Beach, This destination offers beautiful white sand beach along with an amazing coral reef which starts at a depth less than a metre. The white sand beach and the blue green water at the Elephant beach is enticing for almost every traveler. The boat ride to Elephant beach passing through the light house is amazing.

Elephant beach

Mykonos, Greece

Things not to miss on Mykonos are the fantastic beaches on the south, the sunset from Little Venice, the view from the windmills and a night out in Mykonos Town. The most fabulous beaches are located on the southern side of Mykonos island. Super Paradise, Paradise, Platis Gialos and Lia amaze visitors with the soft sand and the crystal water.Beach bars are open all day and attract many visitors for swimming, kite surfing and other activities. A nice trip is a boat trip to Delos, a small island that is considered an open archaeological site. According to mythology, Delos is the island where god Apollo was born and this is why there is an entire sanctuary dedicated to this god.

Mykonos

Wineglass Bay, Tasmania

The sheltered location makes this a superb beach for swimming and splashing about, and the clam-shaped shoreline makes for exceptional aerial photographs. There’s a dedicated lookout for the best views of Wineglass Bay, accessed with a one hour return hike up a path.Wineglass Bay is part of Freycinet National Park, and is several hours from both Hobart and Launceston. The picture-perfect beach consists of stark white sand set against the area’s pink and white granite peaks, with a deep blue sea completing the rainbow of colors. Tourists and holidaymakers flock here to fish, sail, kayak, rock climb and simply relax in the sun.

Wineglass Bay

Bondi Beach, Sydney

Locals and travellers alike love Bondi, which has a thriving atmosphere and provides plenty of people-watching opportunities. The iconic beach is home to the first Surf Life Saving Club in the world, which was founded more than 100 years ago. These days, Bondi is typically crowded with sunbathers, swimmers and walkers alike, as its clean shores and close vicinity to the centre of Sydney making it an accessible and popular destination.

Bondi Beach

Turquoise Bay, Exmouth

Western Australia’s Turquoise Bay has been deemed the second best beach in the country, thanks largely to its stunning reef and snorkeling opportunities. Let the current take you towards the exquisite Ningaloo reef, but be wary of the strong current near the sandbar. Take to the water to spot creatures like anemone fish, colorful parrotfish, moon wrasse, starfish and reef sharks.

Turquiose Bay

Kauna’oa (Mauna Kea) Beach

When eco-tourism pioneer Laurance Rockefeller first saw this sugar-soft beach back in 1960, while touring the island with Hawaii’s governor, he immediately knew that it was something special. Rockefeller was there to scout locations for a potential hotel—and he found the perfect one. He chose Kauna’oa as the setting for his legendary resort, Mauna Kea, which still draws couples and families to the Big Island today. The beach is a pristine beauty with turquoise waters, gentle waves, and plenty of marine life, including turtles and the occasional manta ray.

Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro

If there is one beach that foreign travelers know by name, it’s likely this one—no, the Barry Manilow song is not about the beach, though the idea is thought to have originated at the Copacabana Palace Hotel in Rio. The atmosphere is extremely vibrant with several beach bars and multiple sports facilities along the sand. Meet some locals and participate in a pickup game of volleyball or soccer (though obviously, they call it football here). A word to the wise: with popularity comes crowds. Be prepared to share this beach with plenty of other people.

Copacabana-Beach-Rio-de-Janeiro

Vagator Beach, Goa

This beach is on the list for every Indian’s road trip, I mean even a visit to Goa is incomplete without going to Vagator. The best place in Goa for a night party, or just go there on a Wednesday and shop till you drop for a cold beer of course in the flea market. The best time to visit the place, is December any guesses why? Sunburn of course, the coolest music festival is held here, but you can go there in summer also.
